Scottish Widows: 2013 Pensions Report reveals Britain’s attitudes towards pensions
We’ve launched our ninth Scottish Widows Pensions Report, and our latest findings show that the nation’s retirement savings have hit an all-time low. This report gives valuable insight into the attitudes of your clients and areas where you can help them be better prepared.
The key findings from this year’s report
Results from the 2013 Savings Index indicate that overall levels of preparedness have continued to drop since their minor recovery in 2011, although the drop is marginal compared to 2012:
- 55% are ‘not saving adequately’, an increase of 1% since 2012.
- 20% are not saving anything for retirement.
- An underprepared population is entering old age with an increasing number of credit commitments.
